Brighton is the major part of the city and unitary authority of Brighton and Hove on the south coast of Great Britain in the county of Sussex. It is a famous seaside resort and charming city almost immediately due south of the capital city London. In 2000, the two neighbouring communities of Brighton and Hove joined together and were granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II.
Brighton is home to two universities, the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton, and a number of quality schools. Brighton, also known as London-by-the- sea, has become cosmopolitan, but is still a place with a character and quirkiness all its own. Many historical buildings in the city have oriental tinge.
Brighton is a vibrant, colourful and creative city, that offers many kinds of cultural and social entertainment via festivals, sport and leisure activities, nightlife and relaxation on the beach.
